Seeing the Aquarium and back of house tours
The staff at the National Aquarium are incredibly dedicated to the work that they do. They are passionate about the many marine animals and reptiles, and have plenty of knowledge about our marine life. One way that you can learn more is with our educational visits which includes presenters who will not only talk you through the displays that we have, as well as plenty of information regarding the nautical world.
You can also book in to one of our back of house tours at just €5 per person! These will take you through the inner workings of the Aquarium and is a fascinating insight into the process that goes into the care of the Aquarium and marine life. During the tour you will be guided through the behind the scenes of the different areas of the Aquarium. This will be led by one of our trained and fully experienced presenters that will showcase areas that you wouldn’t normally be able to see. This includes the quarantine area, the food prep area and the laboratory. If you are lucky enough then you might even be able to see some of the animals being fed.
Plenty to see
Even if you don’t decide to book the back of house tours, there is plenty to see at the Aquarium. With so many different species there is always something fascinating to get up close and personal with. One of the most popular parts of the Aquarium has to be the immersive tunnels which allow you to see a variety of creatures from the Tropical and Mediterranean Sea.
This undersea world also takes you to a replica of one of the most popular dive sites, showcasing a little piece of the history of Malta whilst you get to see some amazing creatures.

It isn’t only the animals that visitors love at the Aquarium. We also have a number of other facilities that you can enjoy. Once you have walked around and worked up an appetite then you might want to visit our bistro that offers up a range of drinks, snacks and food that all the family will love.
